Derek Crowe
CTLP Executive Director

Derek Crowe is a trained photographer whose work has been featured in international publications, including assisting on National Geographic stories.

In 2007, he won the Northern Lights Award in Travel Photography for his coverage of the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.

In 2010, Derek earned a Guinness World Record for the longest unsupported Arctic snow-kiting expedition. Along with Devon McDiarmid and Adrian Hayes, he spent 67 days in 2009 skiing from Greenland’s southern coast to the northernmost extent of the icecap, and on to Thule, powered by wind.

Derek’s love of cycling and keen photographic eye were instrumental in helping his wife, Jane Koepke, scout and design the Montana Mountain trail network in 2005. The following year, Jane founded the Singletrack to Success Program, which has since grown into an award-winning initiative that Derek later coordinated, as documented in the film SHIFT. This work led to Derek, Jane, and CTFN’s Justin Ferbey receiving the Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor General in 2018.

Today, Derek continues to elevate youth and young adult leaders through his role as Executive Director of C/TLP, the community-focused corporation within the Carcross/Tagish group of companies.
